Hi, My name is Mandy Sharpe. My daughter Kiersten was born Nov. 15,1999. She was born with a Giant Omphalocele, ASD. She has spent a total of 15 months in the hospital, the longest span was from birth (13 months). She was totally vent dependent for the first 12 months. Then came off the ventilator and came home (still with trach) then had to go back in for 2 months and it was discovered she has trachamalisia. So she was back on a ventilator and coming home with it this time (LTV 1000). Kiersten is now home and doing wonderful.
Update August, 2002: Kiersten is now 2 1/2 years old and doing wonderful. After a long hospital stay of 17 months and coming home on a ventilator, she was DECANNULATED on July 26 and everything is going great!!
