Alston Robert Bell
My Son Alston Robert Bell was born December 22, 1998 a healthy baby two weeks into his life he caught RSV and it was a very severe case. He had to have three chest tubes, blood transfusions and numerous changes happened. He was diagnosed with subglottic stenosis because of multiple intubations. Finally, the outcome was for him to be trached, so just image how I felt and my family to see our baby boy at such a young stage in life having to deal with this. But with God's love, mercy and kindness my baby made it through. He may have went through a whole lot, but God was there beside him soothing his pain and comforting my husband and I. He's doing well, thank God. He has a big brother and two big sister's who adore him. He is truly a blessing. Hopefully, this year Alston's surgery will begin. That is to remove the trach for good. May God bless these children that have sicknesses and heal them, also we need to always pray for protection over our kids and family so they won't be subject to this. Be encouraged to do all you can to help your child and yourself through this stage in life. Read books, articles ask questions as much as you can on your child's sickness and watch the Discovery Medical Channel. You can learn to be knowledgeable about new medical procedures that might help your child, new ways to care for them, new and improved medical equipment. I found out there's a new procedure that help's decrease scar tissue that usually reappears after trach reconstruction surgery. It may be some scarring a year later, but this way it helps the healing process in the beginning, which is mostly important if your child does not get scarring right after surgery. I will pray for every child listed and wish the very best for their lives because these children will also grow up to become the Doctors and Lawyers and Judges, President's and people who will make a difference in our future too.
