Eileen Kaitlan Valentine

My daughter Eileen Kaitlan Valentine was born on June 18, 2000. She was 34 weeks. Eileen was born with CHARGE Syndrome. She has Bilateral macular colobomas ( she is blind), Thickened bicuspid aortic valve, heart murmur, bilateral choanoe atresia (has stents in both nostrals), already experiencing developmental delays, her inner ears are deformed causing her to be deaf, mild facial palsy, swollowing problems, bad reflux, g-tube, full fundo wrap, sleep apnea, tracheomalacia, laryngomalacia, and now a tracheostomy. Our daughter was not supposed to survive, but against all odds she is here with us and we pray every day that she remains with us. We have no idea on why this happened to her and neither do the doctors or genetics. Even though Eileen has all these special needs she is a fighter and she has helped us to see the real important things in life and she has taught me what real unconditional love really is. I do not think that our family has been closer since the day she was born and I thank GOD for her everyday.
