Mechanical Ventilation
Some children with tracheostomies require mechanical ventilation. In fact for some children, mechanical ventilation is the only reason for the tracheostomy tube. A ventilator a is machine the breathes for the child. The ventilator can do all or part of the breathing work for the child.
