Update on Brady Eikleberry, he’s coming home
POSTED: Monday, May 05, 2003 10:37:34 AMAKRON – An Ohio baby has faced more challenges in his young life than most of us will in ours.
He was born with two holes in his heart and has been in the hospital since birth.
Now, he could soon be coming home.
We first told you about Brady Eikleberry back in January. Medicaid helps pay for his hospital care, but because of the way Medicaid is set up, it denied covering less expensive home health care.
After more than a year, Nikki and Rick Eikleberry never had a chance to put out a sign and welcome Brady home. Instead, they spent the year driving to Akron's Ronald McDonald House, and then walking to the hospital to visit Brady.
"I was shaking like a leaf all over,” said Nikki Eikleberry, Brady's mom.
After waiting on a long list, Brady's parents got a letter saying Medicaid could waive it's own rules to let Brady go home.
Now Brady's mom and dad are waiting for final word and the okay from Medicaid so they can celebrate the day they have dreamed of.
The Eikleberry's were told they might have to wait up to 30 days to get a response to the letter.
But, they're hoping it won't be long before one-year-old Brady comes home for the first time.
