I've noticed for awhile that the tips of Riley's fingers and her fingernails look... different. So, the neonatologist was giving me the daily update and said the geneticist has determined she has "clubbed" fingers and that this is either a product of her pulmonary hypertension/lung disease/vent dependency or is a possible indication of cystic fibrosis. They did a sweat test today but wouldn't have they been able to tell if she had CF already? She's almost 5 months old. Is it more than likely a result of her heart/lung issues?

That is so funny you said "clubbed fingers". Kara is almost 2 1/2 and for the very first time I was told yesterday that Kara has clubbed fingers. They have been like this since she was born but no one ever told me what it was. Here is a picture of Kara's fingers.

Oh wow, that could be Riley's hand! I'll not worry about CF then until I am told differently. Thanks for the picture, especially since Kara is in the hospital. I hope she feels better soon!

Mya's fingers were clubbed also. But after she had her heart surgery, they started to change shape and have a more typical appearance now. Tristan's were clubbed until his 2nd birthday, but no sign of it now. I don't really know for sure, can't get a good look. He's the fastest kid around- acts like he's on meth or something!

I hope that it is nothing to worry about. I am sure that her little fingers are as cute as Kara Beths are.
