Thumbs up

Hi everyone. I've been reading along and praying for all of you since Vivian was decannulated, but just don't post much. I have spent many hours praying and crying in front of this computer over the things that happen in the life of a trach family. I hope you all feel as blessed as I did to find this community of support.

Some of you will remember that on Valentines day we took out Vivian's trach. Just took it out. Sounds so simple, but it is thanks to the LTP last year with Dr Cotton, but we had to let her heal longer than expected after the surgery, so didn't take it out for almost a year after surgery.

So she's been a nose breather (well kind of, we still have an open stoma and have to remind her to breath through her nose and mouth at times) for over 5 months. No hospital visits, no complications. She actually tested out of speech therapy last month. She is talking in full sentences, and she has this beautiful girly voice!! She has totally blown us away!

And I have boxes and boxes of suplies to give to whomever needs them.
Thermovent t's,
I think I have 6 or 7 or more cases of catheters,
I have sterile water, both the bags and the bottles, but I'm sure shipping would be outrageous for them,
A bunch of devillbiss canisters, they have been used but were cleaned with Control III and Vivian never had ANY trach infection. (one brand new, never used)
I have I think 6 fisher Paykel heater cartridges,
7 Airlife pediatric heated lines (for the paykel set up)
A box of Dale pedi ties,
A box of Posey ties,
A few unopened packages of O2 tubing, 25 feet each, and also some longer tubing that ran from our compressor to the Paykel, used but clean.
3 3.0 Neo shiley's
2 3.5 peds shiley
1 3.o peds shiley (all trachs are sterile - unopened)
Full case of sterile saline bullets,
Various suction tubing and possibly a little sucker that was unused.
1 devillbiss suction machine, portable with bag.
3 ambu-bags one pink and two blue

There may be more, I just didn't dig thouroughly through all of the boxes. I will ship them to you, but I ask that you pay for shipping, nothing else.

You guys are all always on my mind, so many of you are in my daily prayers.

~Erika

But I also found:
4 yankauers,
an almost full box of chucks, (like what you put under the baby in the crib so the diaper or G-tube doen't leak onto the bedding)
1 nasal aspirator
1 deelee mucous trap
1 davol mucous trap

She looks wonderful!!!!

We could really use the following supplies:
-Thermovent t's!!!! We are sooo low on these!!!
-sterile water bottles a few we always run out
-sterile saline bullets
-an ambu-bag pink or Â*blue doesn't matter though pink would be a cute change just child size

Just let me know if you have them and the shipping.

Love Kris

I Kris! I loved the las picture of the girls! I wish the scope had given you better news. The ambu bags are I think infant size, one is stil in the original bag and it is called a "baby blue". Will they work for you?

I'll find shipping out for you on Friday.

Thanks for the compliments on my little girl, ladies! Of course I think she's gorgeous, but I may just be biased! LOL!

And Deb, I love the picture of Allison in the leapord print shirt...very pretty little girl you have!

Val...it's freaky. Here I have all this stuff, we've been trach-free for 5 months, and when we went on a mini vacation last month I still took a trach just in case. Even though her stoma is at like 4mm now...what would I do? And it's still freaky to let this stuff go out of my house! It's comforting to know it' here. Our ENT told me last month that he doesn't forsee a trach, even if she were hospitalized with a resp. infection he thinks steroids and other ways of managing it would suffice, but who am I to believe that??
