Question

Hi all it's me again,

I appreciated all of the feed back on the chain ties. I now was wondering if any of you have used the velcro adjustable ties? I was told not to use them because of the risk of babies pulling them off. I am not superwoman but Indie is never out of my sight or sound. Did any of you use them when your kids were babies? Did you have good results? I am having samples sent from the States so I will at least try. I promise not to beat the trach tie topic to death, just looking for some more feedback. Thanks so much again.

Kelly and Indie.

As well, velcro ties are all we've really used. We tried twill tape a few times, but that wasn't successful for Gaithy. The velcro ties have been good, but about a year ago, when Gaithy's neck was really nonexistent and chubby she had some breakdown troubles (that's why we tried twill tape), but I started using Desitin (to protect that skin) along with Niastatin powder (to keep away yeast) and that helped the break down a lot. Now her neck is thinner and longer and she does great with the velcro. {so far she has never tried to take them off, but she never has tried to pull her trach out either, so she probably just hasn't realized yet that she could do this if she wanted to!}

Hi, We use the velcro ties for our son and find them fine. I have been told to watch him when he gets to the stage of pulling the tie but I think it he'll give up trying pretty quickly as he has short arms so I don't think he will be able to reach to the back of his neck and undo the velcro. We fold the tie over the velcro anyway.
Good luck - I'm sure you'll find them great.
Cheers
Shona

Thanks guys for all of the 411; I have finally tried the Dale ties and I can't beleive I wasted so much time on twill ties. What a huge difference! I can now do the ties alone and I don't have to wait until Mike gets home from work. I also have noticed that Indie is not coughing at all because the ties have not become loose over the day and the trach is not moving around.

Hooray
Kelly
I love being able to connect with you guys, I have learned soooooo much!

hello,
just wanted to say that morgan has always used velcro ties since she was trached in the hospital as a baby. We use Posey Ties. Never had a problem with them and I would recommend them to anyone.
