Wink

On Thursday morning at 2am we also had to make a trip to the ER. Zoe was coughing non-stop, literally. Usually she doesn't need any suctioning at night while sleeping. From 9ish pm - 2am she probably needed over 20 suctions. They did a trach sputum (sp?), chest x-ray, influenza and rsv swab. Everything came back normal, except for the fact that she has tracheitis. We have no night nursing - on Thursday night I had only had 2 hours of sleep in over 24 hours because of the contstant suctioning. My AWESOME nurse came in on Friday at 2am and stayed until 8am so I could get some sleep. Zoe seems to be on the mend now - last night she went about 3 hours without any suctioning.

My question is, when should I change her trach? B/C of the tracheitis, should I do it now? We normally change it once a week, on Monday. Should I just wait until Monday?

Thanks,
Lora

I would just do it on the normal day if it is that close. We do weekly, so I usually just do it on the normal day. If we went longer periods of time, I would probably change it once Brian started doing better.

I would wait as well, especially since she is getting better. The poor thing that is a lot of suctioning. Poor you, you must be exhausted. I am glad that she is on the mend. Lora, I hope that you can get some rest.
