Thanks to our ongoing antibiotic regiments, Alex and Aidan have really bad diaper rash. We are using Lactobacillus to restore his stomach bacteria. Also, we have tried bag balm, Desitin, some other butt creams, etc....

Any suggestions on diaper rash treatments? Poor Alex's skin is extremely broken down and he cries each time I change his diaper....

Help!

Whitney

Have you tried Nystatin? It is a prescription. I am actually using it on Kara right now and it does really good. I put a thin layer of it on and then I put Vaseline to protect her skin. Or at least to try to protect it.

We took Brian's diaper off a few times a day and blew a hair dryer (on cool) on his bottom to help dry it up. That did seem to help. We also used a prescription cream called Sensi care.

Sebastian used to get terrible diaper rash and his nurse suggested an ointment called Corona. It's sold mainly for cattle and other livestock but works wonders on the butt. I feel like such a hick saying we used it but really great stuff- my only suggestion with it is to wear a glove when applying it cause it's thick and sticky and takes a little work to wash off. Good luck!!
