We finally made it to Cincy! Of course, not with a few bumps in the road. Our Dell laptop decided to crash the day before we left. Maybe not such a big deal but he considering that on a 13 hour drive without any Baby Einsteins, it was the worst timing ever! Fortunately, we bit the bullet and bought a portable DVD player and it was the best investment ever. Marisa was a trooper and even had some smiles after the long trip. We finally got a PC tech to come out to the hotel and 'fix' it (well, not exactly fix but reinstall the whole dang operating system!!!) so we are now all connected again!
Tomorrow is the big day for Marisa. She had her bronch, adenoidectomy, epliglottoplasty, and an ABR on Wednesday and did surprisingly well. Very cranky in post anesthesia and didn't really like it when the nurses tried to salvage an IV that crimped up and went bad. Overall a great experience but was disappointed with PACU and the lack of having the correct supplies and trachs and everything necessary for a trach patient. What is most important is that Dr. Cotton was happy with weight gain and still said that we are on for Monday CTR at 0730 or, if he gets started and sees something different, a LTP. Keeping fingers crossed that the surgery will go well and the recovery will be uneventful.
Thank you to all for prayers and thoughts for Marisa. We will keep you posted. I am getting nervous. We were able to meet Robin yesterday and would love to meet others while we are here during these next 5 weeks. You can email me to set up a time/day and I will try to check them daily. We just got into the Ronald McDonald house today after 5 days and starting off 15th on the waiting list. Not too bad.
And I just read Abby's post on what I learned...thank you...I needed that today. Thank you to all of you that have shared your most private thoughts and your families with us. I can't imagine how we would have gotten to this point without you all.
Trust and Believe in Him,
Michelle

Prayers will be coming your way tomorrow and the days following. I hope all goes as planned.
Welcome to our great state of Ohio!!
PS-I have to agree that a portable DVD player is one of the best investments we've made as well when it comes to long trips!
