Default DME Companies in Austin, TX

Hi. It's been a while since I've been on here. We've been really busy this past summer. Amirah is doing amazing. She has been using her cap. She was not liking it at first but we did get up to 10 hours a day and had a sleep study scheduled for overnight capping last week, but we all got colds and we had to reschedule. Now we aren't scheduled for the sleep study until December, although we have been assured there would be a good chance that we will get called for an appointment sooner if a cancellation occurs.

Amirah is almost walking and is an expert crawlers and is slowly begin to make more "talking" sounds. She is just an amazing girl!

That being said, I need a new DME company. I would take any suggestions or recommendations. The one we currently use has HORRIBLE customer service and any slight change takes hours and hours and hours of phone calls to correct.

Thanks for your help.

I don't live in Austin, so I am not much help. The company I use only works out of Florida. I will say don't go with Lincare, I had issues with them getting a vent in a timely manner, with their equipment working, get new trachs in a timely manner, etc. They are a large national company so they have a ton of red tape that causes everything to be slow.

I would suggest (this is what I did when I wanted to switch) is go to your insurance companies website and print out a list of DME companies. Just call down the list until you find someone that can supply all the equipment you need. Then have them do a home assessment and meet them. See if you like them and ask questions like how long it takes them to do XYZ. I love our new company and we have only had them for a little over a week. But their customer service is amazing and because I was able to get all my answers during the home assessment I knew what to expect.

I think we are in the same boat. Our company is seriously on my last nerve. One of my nurses has to spend hours and hours and hours on the phone just to have the shipment come and it be totally wrong. Also their new thing is to push her shipment day back and then it takes them forever to correct the order. And they have such attitudes on the phone. Sheesh

Yeah, my old company had a hug attitude when the feeding people would call. They were always so rude. And the orders were never right.

can you guys use caremaxx?or i guess walgreens bought them out, so it is technically walgreens home health? not sure how the austin office is, the houston office has been good, we only use them for feeding stuff, we use a local dme for everything else, initially i had issues with our local, but after the first year, it has been ok, once i found out who i needed to speak with for things. try looking into local dme, sometimes the smaller groups are better, good luck
