Is it normal to have increased secretions when you have vent changes?
Is it normal to have increased secretions when you have vent changes?
Caleb was on CPAP with a PEEP of 5 and Pressure Support of 5....now he's on just a PEEP of 5 with NO pressure support. We've been suctioing a lot more than usual. This was our pulmos first step before we start doing sprints off the vent.

I'd guess yes - I know when Alexander started spending time off the vent, we suctioned like mad...because the pressure of the vent wasn't there to help hold those secretions in place anymore. I'd think lowering the pressure support of the vent to 0 would give a similar effect.
