Help! Awhile ago our first nursing agency gave us this tip suction device that works great. It's about 3" long, is clear plastic, and has an angled top. It goes just into the tip of the trach and sucks out all that bubbly stuff our son brings to the top. We have 2 of them, but are ready to get new ones. We are no longer with our first nursing agency (they aren't even around anymore) and our family doctor and DME have never seen this piece of equipment before. Our DME can order it if we have a name or company to give them. Unfortunately, we weren't given these in packages and our nurses just call them "Sims catheters." When doing a search on the Internet for Sims Catheters, I get something completely different than what I'm looking for. Anyone know the actual name for this piece of equipment?

Thanks!

We use the ones that are pictured on Aaron's Tracheostomy Pages. You can find it under Tracheostomy Equipment, then Suction Equipment. They are listed as Sims Connectors. They may not be exactly what you are used to, but they serve the same purpose. Our package is made by Allegiance Medi-Vac, product #361, It is listed as a Plastic Tubing Connector Sims Type. Hope this helps.
