Pediasure with Fiber?
Does this exist? I thought I read about it at some point. Rosi is doing fine with the Pediasure and it is so much less expensive. She'll lose her Medicaid at some point after the trach is out and our insurance doesn't cover formula at all. So we'll have to be able to afford it out of pocket. But she needs something more than the Pediasure I think. She gets pretty constipated at times. If she can get something with more fiber it might really help her. So does it really exist? It's not in any grocery stores. I'm guessing it's one we're going to have to order still.

I get it through a pharmacy.... but its enteral formula (strickly g-tube).... I don't know if they make it in the "drinkable" state... that being said, it tastes wheatier than reg pediasure but is still vanilla flavored, so it might work PO. It runs 2.50 a can though :P, 8 oz cans.

I get vanilla with fiber right at Target. They have started handing out coupons as well, every time I buy it. So I'm never paying the full amount anymore. It is about 9.99 for 6 - and I get coupons from the register for any where from $1.00-$5.00 off. It occasionally goes on sale there as well.
Hope that helps!
p.s. you could also use something like Miralax which can be mixed into anything and works very well.

I've never seen it, but then I've never really looked either. I recently found out WIC coverd Pediasure though. I tried to get it from Medicaid but they declined it because in Rose's case it's just a supplement, not her only source of nutrition.

The formula we use with Alex has fiber added, but it wasn't enough to help with her constipation issues. We now add Benefiber to her formula and that seemed to help. I started trying it and purchased it over the counter but I now have a dr's order and it is covered by our insurance so my dme supplies it. It's important to add additional water when using benefiber or it will make the constipation issues worse.

I've found it at Target, too. Also, my local grocery store has a store brand w/fiber.

Autumn gets the pediasure enteral with fiber. it does nto help enough with her constipation. She's on a med called senna and gets enemas to help with her constipation. She also gets more water than normal mixed in with her pediasure but that still is not enough either. Miralax may help as well.

It is available OTC.
I get ours at Publix, WM or Kroger. All on the shelf. It's vanilla and looks just like regular, only it says with fiber underneath the Pediasure part.
I'd suggest miralax though for constipation. Which is also OTC. I get the generic from BJs.
