Question Hello!

Hello, I am still trying to figure out what a thread is. I have been reading posts on this site for over a year but never seem to have time to actually post anything. My son Trey is 22 months and has had his trach since 6 wks old. He has CHD and had his first heart surgery at 5 days old and then an undiagnosed heart defect called a vascular ring that was compressing his trachea and caused severe tracheomalacia. That was repaired at 4 months of age but he needs the trach because of the damage to his airway. Does anyone out there have a child with a trach due to a narrowing of the trachea?

Welcome! This really is a great source of info and support, glad you found it. My son had a compression as well-not vascular rings, but the aorta was sitting on the trachea. It went undiagnosed and was recently found and fixed. He was trached at 5 months & is 5 years old now. Because of having the Tracy for so long he now has floppiness (trachialmalacia) that will hopefully be repaired in July. Are you looking at any reconstructions anytime soon?
Welcome!!

Hi, glad you have decided to join in! A thread is just what an individual message with the responses is called. I can't wait to hear more about you and Trey. Karen
