G-tube and starting crawling?
Does anyone have a crawling baby with a g-tube? Have you had problems with the g-tube being pulled? What did you do?

Hunter has a Mic-Key button. We take the extension out as he has pulled the entire button (balloon intact). We used to tuck it into his clothes, but he kept pulling it out

Kenlie also has a Mic-key button. She is not exactly crawling yet but she is rolling around and sliding to were she wants to be. We also take the extension off between feedings. However, I have caught her on numerous occasions grabbing the button and pulling it. It looks like it would hurt but she acts like it's no big deal. She has yet to pull it all the way out (and hopefully she never does), I think I catch her in time. I have put tape across it a few times on those days when she just won't leave it alone!lol

Alexander learned to crawl about a year after his g-tube was placed. He's walking now, and climbing on and off of furniture. Sliding off of the couch (a long ways for someone his size) is far far worse than crawling ever was, and he still doesn't seem to mind. We've always taken the extension out in between feedings. He pulls on it and fidgets with it a lot too; we've been more worried about that than anything, and have resorted to taping gauze over it from time to time.

Mackenzie also has a MicKey button and, like Janet, we disconnect the extension when not using it. Back when she was first learning to crawl, her feedings lasted about an hour and a half (and she had 5, 1 every 3hrs during the day... as well as a continuous at night). We just made sure to tuck it somehow to keep the line taut. We were over-vigilant in making sure someone was with Mackenzie at all times, especially when she had a feeding going.

Parker had a peg tube and we just taped it to his tummy. If you don't already have a mic-key button you might ask about one it is more flush vs. a long dangly tube.

Rosi has a peg. We actually just tuck the end right in the diaper tab on one side. Then a pair of pants or shorts (or a onsie on days we don't use the tube) keeps the tube protected the rest of the way. We can't have a mic-key because of a bad placement so we're dealing with this. Maybe this summer they can put in a different type of button, but the GI doctors theory is "if it's not broke, dont' fix it." The peg does get in the way a bit, but so far so good.
