Dealing with a gunky stoma
Sam has been decanned but his stoma is still open and requires a dressing. I change the dressing daily and clean around the stoma. However, he is still getting some secretions up through it and they are quite dry and hard (sorry
 ). What is the best way of getting rid of these? I don't really want to poke anything into the stoma if I can help it. I'm doing my best with a piece of gauze and some saline but can't get rid of them all. anyone got any tips??Julie x

OH I know what you mean... those thing were such a pain! The only thing I found was wet qtips. After about 4 weeks, we quite covering it so that I could clean the secretions when they happened... that helped A LOT, especially when he got sick. If he went outside, I used a bandanna or put him in polo shirts and buttoned them up.
Gotta run, Ayden is bring me his backpack, my purse and my shoes and now his O2 and telling me car ride.... lol
