Default Not ready yet

We went to the ENT and he tried her PMV on her. She turned red and didn't like it. I did get to hear a little but of a cry though. I haven't heard that since December. Anyway, she isn't quite ready and needs to grow a little bit bigger. I kind of expected that because she was just upsized a few weeks ago and doesn't have the leak she had with the 3.5.

I'm sorry it didn't work. Sam was exactly the same when he first had his - he was 5 years old before he tolerated it for any length of time - though his case was pretty extreme. Just try and introduce it slowly and build up the time. good luck.

Thanks! I am not real worried about it as it was the result I expected. With time, she will grow to tolerate it.

My ENT is one of those, that for whatever reason, is not a big fan of PMV's. Best I remember, he doesn't even attempt them until at least one years old. (And with Shelby, he wouldn't let us try it at all.) So give her some time to grow, like you said, and I'm sure she'll be able to tolerate it.

Are you sure she 'isn't ready', or does she just not like it? Gabriel HATED the pmv the first few times we tried it, but he kept his sats up, so he was ready..just not ready to cooperate, lol. I'd try each day for very short periods of time and see if you can get her used to it that way.

Her time will come and if it doesnt that doesnt mean she will not progress to the next level, many children never even wear the pmv and still get decanned, also many kids wear them with holes drills in them, but again, you knew she wasnt ready so its not so much of a disappointment then, as much as you would like it to happen. what size trach does she have?
