Question about bronchs...
Are bronchs considered in-patient or out-patient? Or does it depend on the type of bronch itself?
All of Mac's have been in-patient procedures because she's still in the NICU. I'm curious what they'll be like once we discharge.

Tristan's have been outpatient unless he was in for illness or other procedures.

Typically, they are out-patient, but then our kids are not typical. When Aaron had his routine bronchs, the doctor would book an in-patient room for him, but if all went smoothly we went home. A couple of times we did have to stay overnight for observation.

Taylor has a bronch scheduled for 4/16 and an in-patient room was booked just in case she needs to stay overnight. We had one scheduled for 1/15/09 but it was cancelled because the hospital was full and they did not have a room for overnight observation if needed.

our hosptial considers them in-patient, but emily has always gotten home same day because they say her trach makes her airway more stable, or something!

Tommy's bronchs were always inpatient because he could never bring his sats back up after anesthesia. It took him a good 24 hours to get it out of his system and had to be on a lot of oxygen until then.

Ours were in-patient until Mitchell got bigger. They were concerned how he'd react so they'd keep him a night--that really was probably only the 1st one though now it is out-patient...it is an all day event, but he usually does well. 1 thing I learned is I always give him Motrin when we get home. It helps with any inflamation or irritation-he seems to have good nights after since I've done that.

Both kids are done as outpatients. We have never had to keep them overnight. Karen

Sam's are usually in-patient. If all goes well though he could be allowed home the same day.
