Question weight at decannulation

if anyone can actually remember, would you be able to tell me how much your child weighed when they were decanned?

were you ever advised of a minimum weight or size?

At our attempt last May, Alex was less than 20 pounds, but I don't remember more precisely. There was no disussion of a minimum weight.

While trying to impress upon us the importance of steady growth and weight gain, Sahana's Pulm. mentioned to us that ENTs will not attempt any airway surgeries below 10kg (about 22lbs).

I haven't tried to verify / validate it with our ENT, since we wouldn't consider any elective surgeries or decannulation before summer next year, and if she maintains her current rate, we should be pretty close to that mark.

Sienna was right around 20 lbs (15 months old). A minimum weight was never mentioned to us.

Kate was about 23lbs. She was scheduled for an LTP (which she ended up not needing), but her ENT never impressed on me a minumum weight. He told me Kate's overall health, nutritional and pulmonary status were much more important.

the old saying used to be about 3 years/30 lbs but I think that has fallen out of favor and ENTs are routinely decanning and/or doing reconstructive surgery on younger/smaller kids.

Since it was recent... Ayden was about 23lbs. there was no minimum... but Ayden is a little different since he only has BPD - no structural issues. After Ayden got his trach out, in 2 months, he gaine about 4lbs and grew 2 inches. (?)

My son was 10 months and weighed about 18 pounds. We were not advised to meet any specific weight.
