Joseph got his up until he turned five, but it took a lot of approval to keep them happening. It now seems strange that he got them so long. I wonder if his size played into it? Even now at 8 and a half, he only weighs 32 lbs. Such a tiny thing.

G just got his and I was told the only reason he was getting it this year is because he is still ventilated, and he's just about to turn one, so they said next year if he's off vent he will not receive.....
If I remember right I believe Anthony is still ventilated so I would double check
Good luck

Dawn...
Make sure you push for the synagis.... Ayden will be 3 in April and our pulm sayd b/c of Ayden's severe BPD, he should still have the Synagis. Ayden is also decanned this winter, but he still doens't have healthy lungs, even though he hasn't gotten any illnesses in his lungs for 2 years. There have been a few kids I know who have gotten decanned at 2 and stopped the synagis and ended up w/ RSV.
Just and FYI to you - that's what we are told. I don't know if it has anything to do w/ the area of the country you live in, but with so many brothers and sisters, someone is probably is most of the winter. (?)

They don't offer the shot in the uk (probably why sam has had rsv every year!).I believe once they have turned 3 they shouldn't get it. Not sure I believe that - Sam is 5 - and if they don't get rsv, what do they get instead?

Angus only got Synagis until he was 2. He got RSV between the ages of 2 and 3 and it set him back for months - he was back onto 24/7 O2 for 3 months and it took another month or two to wean him down to only O2 at night. This was really disheartening because he was spending hours off the vent each day until he got RSV. He's never been as good since, but that may be because his rib growth really isn't keeping up with his general growth.

Myles had the RSV shot last year. He is probably getting it this year too. I have all the paperwork....his cardiologist feels he should......
As far as I know, they don't qualify for the needle after they are 2 in Canada.........but I could be wrong.

Our doctor won't give after age 2. The CDC and FDA have only recommened and approved it to be used until age 2. Of course it CAN be given after if you get a doctor who is willing. We did fine without it, but I know others might not. If you feel he needs it, fight it
