Can't modify used Honda Odyssey?

We took our van to an adaptive dealer in Denver and they told us they can't modify used Odysseys as there is some contract with Honda that they can only sell new adapted Odysseys. They said they can adapt other used vans (Sienna, Caravan, etc) but not Odyssey. They sell new adapted Odysseys.... We bought our van in 2004 (new) and we had casual conversations with the dealer regarding the possible need to modify the vehicle. They never said anything about a contract, etc. We weren't certain that Alex would be in a wc then, but got the van to be safe... Anyone ever encounter something like this? It seems crazy.....

No, Whitney, I haven't heard that before. Ours is a 2003. We didn't have any adaption for a wheelchair, just some inverters and some stuff to secure O2, etc. You can check the website for Honda. I do know that Honda doesn't have some of the modification pricing that the US car makers do. For example, if you by a Caravan and have it modified after market, they will take the cost of the modification off the price of the car up to a certain dollar amount.

If you don't find it on the Honda website, e-mail them and ask the policy. We went to a place called United Access to do modifications. You may want to check around. I think United Access is a national franchise.

I never heard that either Whitney. I'll ask around, I have 2 friends w/ converted Odysseys.
Or try 1-800-VANS. This is where we got our Uplander. They have pre-converted and also convert pre-owned as well.
