Um does she really need the trach?
For the first time in 2.5 yrs of having her trach Olivia decanned and I have no idea how long she'd been like that.
When I woke up to give her her meds this am, she sounded funny. So I tried to suction her, using 2 viles of saline, but still "hitting something" so something told me to check and yep her trach was laying on her shirt and part of the shirt is what I was hitting. It was soaking wet! LOL (she wears a 4x4 and a bib so it still looked in from the outside angle) She was satting 99 and playing with her hands like normal. No distress, nada. So I took my time getting a new trach and lubed it up, took the old one off and put the new one in. She was fine the entire time. God I hope that's a good sign for DECAN!

Should be I would think. What better sign that you're ready is there than having the thing out and doing fine?! That's great. Did you already make a call to the doctor? I would. But that's me.

I think it's a great sign Trish. When Milo decanned himself last month when we couldn't get it back in (it could have been out for up to 30 minutes), he was fine going about his business until I panicked- then he cried and kept getting dusky. That's how I know he's not ready.
It's funny now that you know she's fine, you must have had a good laugh when you figured out you were dumping saline down her shirt! hahahaha!
