Oygen/E-tank/mixer answers!
Tommy saw Pulmonary today as a routine visit prior to his LTP. Kind of a touch base, see how he's doing kind of visit. He sounds great and his sats are awesome (for him). We will continue with the amoxicillian just to be on the safe side.
I asked her what could be done about the way his O2 is administered from the Etank and how we are running out of tanks so fast. She and RT put their heads together and came up with taping his venturi mixer shut so that he gets 100%, at 4 liters. His sats did really well this way. The reason for the venturi device, especially when he was little was so that he didn't get a buildup of CO2 under his trach mask. Now that he's older and moving around, there shouldn't be any trouble at all.
So at least we were able to cut his flow in half and his tank should last 2 hours instead of 1 now. Hopefully he will be able to have heart surgery after his LTP and he won't need O2 anymore!
Oh, I also asked about the green venturi device with the dial. The RT had seen one when she worked in Iowa but it was 20 years ago. She said they may only be available regionally and she'd never seen one here. The doctor never had either and nobody knows the manufacturer. It could be that they are no longer made.

I'm not familiar with the system you have there, but hope it works out better for you. Here's to no O2 after the ltp and heart surgery!

If its down to 4lpm now can you see about a portable concentrator? Or does it have to be the actual tanks. Not sure they would cover one insurance wise but hey its worth a shot if you can use it. I know a friend of mine can get up to 5lpm on hers
