CT Results - And the fun just keeps on coming!
So, I must say that I am thoroughly pleased that the CT Angio Keturah had last week is actually showing us a reason for her coughing up massive amounts of blood for 3 months. I was afraid that since her bleeding had almost stopped that they wouldn't find anything and she would continue to be a mystery. HOWEVER, the results are a little bit over the top.
I spoke with Pulmonary today to get the CT results, and they said that they had them, but that they needed to review them with the radiologist. To me, that always means that something isn't clear to them on the report and it isn't normal. Keturah saw GI today, so I had them pull the report, as they were also interested in the results. The report says that she has atelectasis (partial lung collapse) of the lower left lobe. It also goes on to say that she has a highly dense 9 mm lesion in the left lower lobe. It continues to say that it is possible that the lesion is caused by a pulmonary hemmhorage, and that they can't rule out a pseudoaneurysm.
All I can say is WOW! I wanted them to find out why she was bleeding, but the thought of a 9 mm lesion is unbelievable to me! I read that atelectasis can even be caused by a tumor. I must say, God really must think I am strong to be continuing with all of this. I'm still waiting to hear the official word from the Pulmonologist.
On a happier side note, we ran into Angelo and Louise at CHOC today. Angelo apparently broke his leg and had both legs in purple casts. I'm not sure on the details, but hopefully Louise will be able to get on soon to update everyone.

I am sorry to hear that you did not get best case scenario results. Kara also had atelectasis when she was little from being put under for surgery. It always shows up on her xrays on her right lower lobe and if I am not careful and remember to tell the radiologist about it they always think she has pneumonia. I am hoping that all of the issues care easily taken care of.

Good grief Sarah! How long do you have to wait to get the official word on what it is and where you go from here? You are definitely due for a "time-out".
Sorry to hear about Angelo's broken leg too.

Yeah, that would be an answer. And having an answer is better than wondering but geeeeez, I'd hoped it was something simple. But I guess it was obvious that it wasn't going to be "nothing" with the amount of bleeding she was having. Is it good that it virtually stopped? It seems like that would be a very good thing. And if that is what she has is it reversible? I hope so.
Well after it's all over you'll be strong enough to handle anything. Although personally I find that kind of talk to be of small comfort even if it's true. I wish life could be easier and we didn't have to be so strong.

oh Sarah,
I am sorry!
Did they talk about what they do to treat either of those possibilities?
If I was closer I'd be giving you a big hug

oh my goodness...we send our over the airway vibes that this can be resolved non invasively and with minimal stress on all. At least you know you are not going crazy and all the bleeding was for a reason but poor sweetie!
