Default Angus' new trach necklace

I modified the design slightly so the weight of the vent hose tugging on his neck would be spread over a greater area. It makes it less attractive, but it's been working brilliantly even with his vent. It was VERY hard to get it fastened, but once done up it wqs just the right length.

I love it! And I really like how you did the double strands. I'm on a vent at night and I've yet to wear mine to bed because of tugging of the vent tubing so I switch back to my regular chain. I may have to try that out myself!

Becky, this is how I threaded it:

I took a long bit of 15lb fishing line, doubled it, pushed the loop through the lobster claw, then threaded the ends through the loop. I put both ends through the first bead, then formed the separate strands with each thread. I put both threads through the last bead, then put them through the lobster clasp once, then once again. I then thread them back through the single bead then through their separate strands which is a bit fiddly, but do-able. Finally through the last bead and thread them through the lobster clasp twice. I do a tucked blood knot with one strand, then push the other strand back through a few beads and do a tucked blood knot with that. I don't cut the line close to the knots, I thread it through a few beads, then cut it.

Hope that makes sense!

Note: When putting these on you need to take care not to get them twisted. I think that next time I make this I will put 2 beads either end rather than just one. It'll make it easier to do up, and there'll still be enough breadth at the back to spread the load.

Makes me want to try something like this for our man Joseph. That looks great.
