Default New type of vent

Found a news article from another group I am on. It talks about a new type of vent. Its only 12 inches by 6 inches! Talk about tiny. Thought some of you might want to read the article too.

WOW!! Look how small it is, and the circuits are small too! We'll have to keep an eye out on this one. Thanks for the info.

I'm waiting for the implantable vent ... with no external equipment at all. I've no doubt it will be developed ... someday.

I like your way of thinking Ann.

Diaphragmatic pacing...that's what Christopher Reeves had that let him off the vent. That's what I want to do with Donovan, if it is possible.

I don't know all the clinical indications or contra-indications but they are doing them at LA Children's too, Ann.

We have thought about this as well Melisande. Abby's doctor says that in another 15-20 years the technology will be even better. We might wait until Abby is older and then help her make the desicion. It is a pretty invasive surgery as of now. But hopefully in years to come it will be all the better.

Default Newport HT50

The Newport HT50 is about that size, has handles to hang on a wheelchair, has an internal battery that lasts up to 10 hours (my setting of 500 volume, 3 peep, and 12 respirations lasts 6 hours, is the only vent with an internal peep, and is very user friendly.

It's the best!
