2-Questions
For those who children use humidity at night, do you also use it in the summer time?
Here in Chicago land, we don't have much of a spring, just winter & summer, once in a while fall. It got hot & humid here today & Jordan was gurgle boy all day I was just wondering if I should just try an hme at night.
Bonfire smoke in the air.
Looking more for your thought's on this one. We live in a community that is recreation centered. During the warmer months we & our neighbors make fires in our yards. Tonight our neighbor behind us lit his and I could smell it in the house. I closed one of Jordan's windows & may have to close the other. I also shut the windows & doors on that side, but I still smell it. It is really hot, Jordan is just in a diaper & my dh hasn't put in the AC units yet. We have fires here to but, usually on a night I can close up the house. I guess we just have to put in the ac huh?
Thanks
Cathy

I'm from Iowa and it gets pretty humid here too. I have my a/c on already because our windows don't have screens in them. But I still put the humidifier on my Jordan, at night as if it was winter out. I run it at 37.0 and no lower that 36.0 and she does great with it. My RT says she still needs humid air even if its summer out at least for night and hme during the day.
As for the smoke when we do our bon fires. We make sure the kids are in bed specially our Jordan. And we have the baby moniter with us incase her alarms go off. If they don't then when we're done with the fire and come in for the night we take a shower so you can't smell it on us. And put the clothes in the washer. But for the actual smoke its self I'd close the windows and run a fan. Hope this helps any. Good luck.

Hi, I dont know if you remember me, but I remember the day your little jordan got her trach. My son Amos was right next to you! I am glad to see she is doing so well. Amos turned a year on Friday! He is 17 lbs now! But the sad thing is that the omaha hospital sent us home and would not take us back. We are now in the MN childrens hospital since last October, amos got a trach on dec 12, because of a collasped lung from the flu shot! We are going home on May 15th, do you have nurses for Jordan? I would love to talk to you more if you have time.

Allison can make it with a HME at night during humid times of year. We already have the A/C on but it isnt really drying since we have such a small place. The exception would be if she needed O2. Deb

We were told by Kaylyn's ENT that she would not be needing much humidity during the summer months and he was right. Last summer was very good for her because her secretions were always moist and she did not get sick. We went everywhere with her including the pool and parks however; we always carried a HME in case she needed it. So enjoy the summer months because they do not last long.
