Default Trach ordering question

I'm getting ready to place our monthly order and have a question. Riley uses a custom cuffed Bivona flex thingymajigger. Should I order a new one every month? I currently have 2 "newer" custom that we rotate every week in and out and an older custom is her emergency bag. There are no bronchs or scopes in the next 6 months so we have no changes planned. Should I order a new one every month? The cuffs seem to break easily. Can I get a new custom every month?

I'm not sure about the custom made trach'ss but Collin had a Bivona cuff and we got one every month. I felt better when his trach was changed once a month, especially if he had gotten over a cold or somthing.

you'll probably want to order at least one a month (we get two) and occ change them out because they will wear out, fall in the toilet, or whatever...you'll also want to have some on hand in case there is a backorder or other shortage.

You can check with your company how many you are allowed per month, our DME wanted to give one a month, so we just got an order from the peds to get 2 per month--and managed to ride out last year's Shiley shortage because we had some spares.

Check with your DME and see what your insurance covers every month. Order them ever month even if you think you won't need them because it is bound to happen that one day you need extra and can't order any due to them being out, or not time to reorder etc.
