How long can you use a vent HME? We use the Humid-vent 1 on Emma's but no one ever told me how long they are good. I get 30 a month, can you use one for a whole day? She is normally on her vent humidifer but we do use the HME's more and more at home now and of course when we go out. I wish someone had told us but they didn't, we didn't get told a lot of things when we left I guess

You can always call the pulm for any further questions...well, maybe not YOUR pulm, perhaps the RTs at the hospital you were in?

Might do that, I know an RT or two. Our pulmo tells me to contact the supply company. Believe it or not he doesn't know much about the every day workings of our vent. He knows how to change settings but the changing of tubing, battery info etc he always tell me to tell them. I don't go by what they tell me on most things, they tell me its safe to dump a whole days worth of food to hang in the feeding bag at once, and the box cleary says refridgerate unused portion, and when I looked it up online it says 3-4 at room temp max. Plus they told me trach ties should be good for a week without changing or washing! LOL

We were told by our DME and RT to use one for the day and then toss it. Hope that helps

Isn't it on the package? I think our HME's say "one day use only" or something like that.

Its not on the package or the box or the paper that comes in the box! UGH! I did try to write the company though their website but got an error so I will try to do it again later. I am thinking daily is ok.

Interesting! We were actually told unless she is sick they can be reused over and over if cleaned and dried properly.

The newer ones we get have sponges in them instead of the paper stuff and can be soaked and washed out. Then left for a day or two to air dry.

And Livi usually wears her trach tie all week long, unless it gets soaking wet (but we usually do 2 bibs)

I was told it can only be used for a day and then throw it. Ayden isn't on it for more than 3-4 hrs, so we were then told, just use it a week or the equivalent of 24 hrs and then throw it, which ever is sooner.

We get 30 a month. It's not often we take Alex off the vent humidifier so it's plenty for us. We dispose of ours each time we use one per the RT from our supply company.
