Can I say that I am so so so very ready for spring and summer when we are healthy!!! Â*Our dd Kendall had ear inf before Christmas and was on a/b that didn't work - now double ear inf and on diff a/b. Â*Along with Kadyn who began on New Year's day getting really dry- unlike anything we have experienced before. Â*My mom and I became very concerned and changed her trach -but she still had a dry cough. Â*Nothing was coming up w/ her cough and we weren't getting anything with the sims adapter. Â*We ended up cath suctioning and got quite abit along with a plug!!! Â*I talked to the dr Tues Â*and got her trach cult done -then they saw the dr on Wed and put both girls on Augmentin ES 600 mg -heavy doses- Â*Kadyn had a chest xray - and it was okay. But she plugged there during the xray and plugged several times betw Tues and Wed. finally after leaving on trach mist collar since Monday her secretions are thinning. Â*But now she has had bloody bright red secretions- and I'm concerned that she may have granuloma in there disturbed. Â*Thankfully she already had a ent appt for Monday! Â*Convenient huh... Â*Well I am looking forward to healthier days ahead! Â* Â* Â* for us please!!!

so glad to be their mommy! Â* Charity

Hi,
I am so sorry that things are so rough right now....with all the plugging and dryness its possible thats what the bleeding is from....its also possible it could be coming from the granulomas as well, but more than likely its the dryness and suctioning from trying to unplug her. have you tried saline nebs...that works also to help remove from the airway....it sounds like she could be having a humidty concern too. good luck and hope things begin to turn around.....take care and keep us posted

Yes- we started doing saline nebs every 1-2 hours on tues then our ped had us also dtart albuterol every 4 hrs all day wed. along with the saline nebs. We increased her humidity and it seemed like even though her onesie was soaked in the front that the moisture just wasn't getting in her..? Wed night and Thurs is when she started getting thinner.

Thanks for your thoughts and support! Have a great Sunday-Lord's day!

Charity

Are you using a trach collar for Kadyn all the time?
We use ours when the boys are napping and during the night.
That, plus many saline nebs or even drops should keep the plugs away.
Of course make sure your house isn't too dry. You should pick up a humidity indicator. It will tell you if you're out of the comfort zone.

Hope Kadyn feels better soon.

Hi Charity,

I see from the update that they've identified Kadyn's infection/s. I hope they get her on the right ABs really soon so she can feel much better. My son can cough up bright red secretions when he's got a bad infection and he doesn't have any granulation issues (:::::touching wood::::::, so hopefully it's only the infection that's causing it for Kadyn too. You sound like you've had a time of it.

I hope you find some time for peace, gentleness and reconnection with your man soon. I always find that when I'm at my worst, if I push myself ever so hard to do something kind for my man, the love and gratitude I get in return bolsters me up more than I can say. It just breaks that stalemate of "I'm too tired to do anything for anyone" because that little action (making him a treat, giving him a short neck rub, telling him he looks great etc.) means so much to him 'cos he knows how shattered I can get, and the spontaneous hug and nuzzle I get, or warm glance reminds me very much of why we're still together and how much he loves me still.

Well, let's both wish hard for an early spring and a LONG healthy summer!! Are you wishing??? I know I am!!

Lots of love,

Kate
