Finally getting a chance to follow up. The surgery was a go since her sats checked out okay and she wasn't coughing. The surgeon said the tonsils were bigger than he thought. Hmmm. That could be good, we may see more of a difference in her crowding down there. He didn't take the lingual tonsils though, but that didn't surprise me since he said he'd decide in the OR I knew from past experience he didn't really want to. I'm have mixed feelings about this. Maybe the regular tonsils will help enough.

Ainsley is pretty miserable despite pain meds. And who knew that it smelled so bad afterward?! Eesh. I got her all cleaned up this morning but she's kind of a mess. Has thick yellow secretions. Though they may be dripping down from the nose. She's drooling. Hasn't smiled and for Ainsley's that's always telling.

The surgeon said there was a fair degree of collapse of the pharynx so he put in a few stitches. My husband and I disagree after the fact about how to interpret that, so it's not clear if that was a result of the adenoidectomy or not.

I'm eager to see how much this helps her but I think it's going to take awhile for her to heal.

Hi Susan, I hope she feels better quickly! And, ha! I forgot about the smell, maybe I tried to cover it up as much as possible with Sean, with ice pops. ~Thinking of you!

Aww hang in. The recovery was no fun. And I too forgot about the yucky smell factor. I recall we were generous with the pain meds
