HCG and Undescended Testicles
Nate had an urology appointment today. His hydronephrosis has resolved (yay!) but the poor boy's testicles haven't descended (I feel weird posting this on a forum-it seems like I should ask his permission or something ).
Nate had a hormone challenge test conducted with HCG during a hospital stay last year that was positive for testosterone so there's something up there, they just can't feel or see them by touch or on ultrasound. The urologist wants to go ahead and start the process by giving Nate HCG shots 3times/week for 3 weeks to see if that will get the testes to drop somewhat on their own and then perform the surgery to bring them down, if possible.
Does anyone have experience with HCG and undescended testicles? I was distracted when we were leaving and didn't ask any questions. We talked about this being a possibility a year ago but I don't remember what the urologist said.

I know what you mean about the "asking permission"! Anyhow (I'll explain it to him when he's older it was all in the name of supporting other parents ) Kristof's testes hadn't descended either and he had the surgery to pull them down. They could only find one and it was so high up, but I don't think its stayed down and we need to go back for another checkup. Poor boys, like they haven't got enough to deal with. I have a feeling K will need hormone injections, I guess that'll just become part and parcel again as he gets older.
All the best, Petra

My nephew had thisd problem and the shots never did a thing for him. He had surgery to correct it and as he puts it "Bring my little buddies down" when he was about 6 I guess. One of his was also very very high. My sister in law said they should have done the surgery early, they feared it would be really painful but Jacob did pretty well

Boy bits are always a bit of a touchy subject, sam has hypospadias and is on the waiting list for the 3rd operation to correct it I hope this can be resolved without the need for surgery!
