First EVER accidental decann!!
Well Sam had his first ever accidental decann at school yesterday. he has been trached for 3 years 4 months! His TA was just walking to the school office with Sam and another child when he just hunched his shoulders, coughed and his trach just slid out under his chin - even with his O2 attached by elastic. She got some help and they had him sorted out in 30 seconds! He was very good and just lay on the floor in the corridor very quietly while they did it. It frightened him a little so he decided to sit out Phys Ed - which he usually loves, but he was fine. Now they realise how important all that training we put them through is They did a great job and got to wear 'well done' stickers for the rest of the day.

Wow how cool is Sam being so calm.
And I bet it is a good feeling for you as a mom to now KNOW that the people that are around him at school know how to react when this happens
I always have this fear that my DD's TA doesn't have enough training and will not be able to react the right way
Good on them and they deserved those stickers

It must be very reassuring to know that the caretakers were able to do what needed done. Sam deserves a few stickers himself. Karen

Way to go Sam...just goes to once again support how bad the need is to have someone with our children at all times that are prepared.
I know you are feeling good about all of this.
Hugs to you,
Roberta
