We also have a DeVILBISS by sunrise medical. It's not heavy at all and is pretty quiet to boot!! The filter is on the side and easy to change. It's a tiny filter. The little tub that catches the goo is easy to take off and clean. I really like it. Gretchen

Could you email me a picture of the QUIET DeVilleBiss? (SPell?) We have one of theirs but it sounds like a lawnmower. It has no filter, either, just a large container that catches the goo. I wash it out once a week, the tubing more often. It feels like it weighs about 15 lbs, especially if Im alone! Thanks Deb

P.S. Do your insurance companies BUY these for you? All our equipment is rental, even the nebulizer! I've always wondered about the cost effectiveness of DME rental...Deb

We still rent the 2 portible DeVILBISS' we have, but ins. has purchased the pulse ox. and the compressor for humidified air. I guess we have gotten lucky because if I think any of our equipment is too loud I call the med. supply company and ask them to give us a different one. Although I never have had any complaints about the suction machines. It may be that since my daughter is 4 that I am just used to the sound,but I don't really ever remember thinking it was too loud. We have a Vacumax portable machine. It has a little round filter that is very easy to change. It is about 7 lbs empty. It is not very loud at all. The one that plugs into the wall IS!! Our machine was purchased by the insurance(BC/BS). The air compressor is a rental and so is the apnea monitor.

We use a Devillbiss VacuAide - it is really light. I know because I have tried just about every other portable machine available. It also doesn't take up a lot of room and comes with its own carrying case.
