Ok, after Will's scope, and our discovery of his 80% stenosis, we are facing an LTP sometime next year. Well, I put in a call to Dr Cotton and in the meantime, I thought I would just check with the ENT in OKC who put Will's trach in and just see if they were capable of doing LTP's there. Here is the conversation I had with his nurse.

"My son has a trach and will have to have an LTP, the surgery to fix it, I was wondering if Dr Clark did those and had any experience with them?"

Silence. . . . Then, "of course Dr Clark does those, he does them all of the time."

"Oh really, what PICU will he use?"

Silence. . . . "It is all done outpatient, they will go home the same day."

"Oh really, so they will take out his rib, make a stent out of it, take his trach out, then send him home that day???"

Silence. . . ."Oh I guess we aren't talking about the same things, so no Dr Clark doesnt do that"

I am not sure what she thought I was talking about, but I kind of got a kick out of her reply. So apparently they have figured out a miracle new way of getting trachs out in OKC outpatient, so anyone interested????? Ha ha.

That is funny but don't base your opion on the doc by there support staff i had a secretary at chop tell me that when they bronc her there were going to look for stomas. I think she ment granulomas.

Maybe you can talk directly to the doc and see if he does it if not ask if he knows anyone in the area that does.

Or ask Dr. Cotton

I'm with Robin...Run, Forest, Run!!!

I know I am not fully faithful in the NPs in our ENT office, but at least they know *something* about the surgeries they do in our clinic.

Thanks for sharing! http://www.tracheostomy.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rofl.gif http://www.tracheostomy.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rofl.gif I needed that!
