Hey guys,
Well, miss Ashley is back in the hospital. We were in Toronto on the weekend for a conference and Ash puked all day Saturday. She was bringing up pure bile. We took her to ER at SIck Kids and they admitted her. The diagnosis is either SMA syndrome or the stomach flu. SMA is when there is not enough fatty tissue around the artery that supplies blood to the intestines. The artery is then pushed up against the spinal cord, slowing down the blood supply. The intestines then slow down. The only cure is to fatten Ash up, so she could be in the hospital for a while. My poor little cookie!!http://www.tracheostomy.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif I'm really hoping its just the bug, but I'll find out when they start her feeds back up.
I'll let ya know how things go.

It's the pits to have to be in the cootie factory, aka hospital! Poor Ashley sweetie pie....if it would help I could send a few pound off my body for her...Lord knows I don't need them! He, He! I got my vote in for a flu virus....the other doesn't sound pleasant at all!
Hugs,
Janet

Well, Ashley did end up having the stomach flu, but she also has motility problems so we'll be in the hospital for a while. The docs are working up Ashley's feeds to continous and trying different meds to help with the problem. Ashley's stomach and duodenum don't empty quick enough. She also needs to pack on the pounds since she only weighs 26 lbs. She is feeling much better though.
Thanks for all the well wishes. You guys are the best!!!!!!
I'll keep ya updated when I can,
Annette
