Ok, we have a "next step"

We have managed to find ourselves STUFFED into an over crowded schedule for an airway clinic appointment on Thursday. Our Dr seems to think that maybe a bit of laser surgery to remove some tissue might work to get us the needed space in Tricia's airway. He says that we only need 1-2 mm more, but he has been saying that for about 2 years (ack).

As part of this next round of surgery, we will also be upsizing Patricia's trach back to a 4.0. We downsized in October anticipating decann...which didn't happen. We were at a 4.5, but I am not sure we will go back that far. I don't know how quickly this next round will progress, but I believe he might preform another observation bronc before scheudling the actual laser work. Needless to say, I am not "holding my breath" for this to move quickly.

I will keep you all posted on what happens next. Thanks for your support.

We will certainly remember you and Patricia (and your whole family) in our prayers. Whitney is right...your strength and determination are admirable!

Please just know that we are praying for good results from the lasering and that THIS will be the year that Patricia will reach decannulation.

Good luck! I truly hope this is the step that gets Tricia where she is supposed to be...although I imagine there are many times you wonder if these "next steps" just have you walking in a circle. We'll all be sending our best wishes to your family. I know how hard this has been on Tricia.
