I read on the Facebook page a post about benadryl drying up secretions, I wouldn't give Caleb Benadryl but now I'm wondering if maybe Claritin might help? Has anyone had the ok from their Dr about anything that might help dry up secretions?
With the weather nicer I've been taking Caleb outside a lot and I'm suctioning him nonstop... Overnight is back to being really bad too.

Ours just started Abby on Zyrtec last week. She vomits several times every morning, and it is typically straight mucous. So far, it hasn't made much of a difference, so we'll give it another few weeks and then try claritin.

Yes Benedryl it does help, buut it also makes them sleepy so if you do decide to use it, only at night and if really needed. Derrick used to be on a daily dose of Claritin of 10cc's a day. I honestly didn't see that much of a difference. Just a very small bit. Sometimes its just the nature of the beast, sometimes it can be controlled. I have also tried extra mist. To be honest, sometimes it really helped. Odd I know. Even more water intakle can help reduce it strangely enough (in my case at least)

While Aly is much older than most of the children here she also has issues with mucus and post nasal drip. We use Flonase in the mornings and Benadryl at night. It helps to some degree but there are times where the mucus is still abundant. I have been given the okay to give her Loratadine/Claritin but the doctor had a preference for the direct route of Flonase.

Claritin really helps me and lessens my secretions-name brand only. Be wary of benadryl. If I take it for more than a few days all the junk in my chest locks down and I get sick.
