One more note, we actually have the chains on a little tighter than the velcro ties. Also leave about 10 spare balls worth of chain because kids grow faster than the chains wear out.

Hi, my daughter uses chain ties and is on a ventilator,I'll try to explain what we do.With her neck size we cut the chain to 45 balls and then loop it through the flange on the top side, and we only loop once. When the chain is on you should only be able to get 1 finger under it. The side of her neck the clasp is on(our clasp is like the kind on your sink plug or key chain) is switched with every trach change . For her ventilator we make ties for them.Depending on the neck size(for the length,Shealee's are 9 inches long) and at least and inch to and inch and a half wide. You take flannel pieces and sew them together, edges flipped under, and at both ends sew in about a 6-8inch length of twill tape, then you just put it around the neck, cross the twill under the green connector and tie it in front(never knot).Always use flannel as it kepts the neck drier than any other material, and you can make these ties in any color, pattern. My daughter has some beautiful ones and we can match them to all of her clothes. If you need more info on how to make them just let me know. They work really well............Ardyth
