Isabella was doing really well with her feedings even with the pmv. We started her on Boost Kid Essential and Duocal and everything went downhill. She had a bad reaction to the Boost to the point where she had an allergic reaction to pampers of all things and she has never done that. Somehow last week she got a lot of Duocal (like 700 calories worth) and now she is constipated and won't eat anything. We tried flushing her g-tube with apple and grape juice and nothing really seemed to happen and I am not sure what to do. What has worked for you to relieve constipation and get things moving again and maybe even clear things out?

My son is a little younger (almost 7 months), but we sometimes have to give him infant suppositories. We have also tried warming up 100% prune juice and flushing 15-20 mls at a time, and that has done the trick in the past as well.

Infant suppositories (I would cut them in half). Sometimes the little extra stimulation worked miracles.

MiraLAX. You could start with 1/2 capful and go from there. Do you have a pediatric gastroenterolgist? They would be able to help you further, as would your pediatrician. I would contact one of them (whoever is easiest) to get the appropriate dosing, and perhaps even a prescription, for the MiraLAX.

We had Miralax, suppositories and enemas but my favorite was 2 ounces of warm prune juice with 2 tablespoons Phillips w/ Mineral Oil through the g-tube. It usually worked in under an hour! We usually didn't have to use anything else.

if there is a plug, then the fleet baby liquid glycerine is the way to go. It works in 5 minutes. So put the diaper on quick. :)

prune juice or miralax will keep it soft.

We give my daughter Miralax every day. We mix a capful in 8 ounces of water and then give about 3 ounces per day. We keep it in the fridge. It is great stuff.

Good luck!

I have tried everything. The only thing that always works is Little Tummies laxative found in the baby aisle.
