Hi

i have a three yr old who is trached and i'm just wondering if any of you adults have anything that youve done with a trachie that you regret because it caused issues, ie trying to shower, swim, go to the beach, be near sand etc etc etc just intrested to know as my three yr old obviously cant tell me yet if something has played up with his trach.

thanks :)

Giving Alexander a large (64 oz) cup to play with in the bathtub....where he promptly scooped up a big cup full of water and shook the cup up and down, covering his face and trach in splatters.

It seemed like it took forever to get that all suctioned back out. sigh.

Yeah well...it wasn't my idea, it was my husband's. "Oh, he can't possibly do anything harmful with a cup, right?"

if you have not heard the story yet, Evan once had a fly in his trach. he coughed it up, dead. We think it got there when he was in the ER at UC Davis, because there were flies in there. So would say if there are any flying insects keep the trach covered.
