Hi everyone. I just wanted y'all to know that we are leaving today to go to Birmingham for a possible decannulation. It has been 3 months since her last scope and the doctors are very optimistic. Please pray for Kyrsten. She has not done well with capping in the past and they are going to cap her tommorrow after the scope to see if she tolerates it. If she does, they will try to take the tube out and see how she does. It is not a very good time, as she is getting her first tooth in and also has a slight cold, but I could not bear to cancel the appointment, even if only to see how her airway looks at this time.

Good luck! We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Remember capping isnt a reliable indicator. Alli could only cap for 1 1/2 hour or so at a time but has been doing great without her trach! Deb

I hope it goes well.
I don't want to put a damper on everything, but I suggest that you ring the hospital before you set off because usually doctors will not put anyone under an anaesthetic if they have a cold. My daughter had a scope postponed because of this.
Good luck Olga
