My son Evan is 13 his trach came about due to the remvoal of a brain tumor which was placed on his brain stem. He is cognitively better than ever, but his nerves are bruised so he can't swallow eat or drink anything, he has central hypnoventialion and is on a vent at night with his tracxh capped during the day. He is depressed and I would like for him to get to know other teens who deal with this bravely and with confidence. Evan likes video games and playing he gutiar, but doesn't want ot go back to school because his friends, being 8th graders are not that understanding. any ideas

Welcome to the boards. I hope that someone on here can relate to your son and give him some support. My daughter is almost 9 and she hypoventilates as well and is on the vent at night.
All the best,
Tess

Here's a link to the blog of a guy we met when Kira was in the hospital. He's a really neat guy, 18 years old, and was really nervous about some things. My 6 year old was actually able to calm him down.

Oh Jamie, that pains me to hear. What a drastic change for him. I can't imagine what it's like to be an adolescent going through that. I wish I knew someone to lead you to...I'll ask around at school if there're older kids w/trachs. Hang in there.
