This is how I change Angus' tapes using a suction cath as a temporary tie until he's all cleaned and changed. This can be used for any child as it reduces the chance of accidental decan, and gagging due to the trach being held manually.

Normally he doesn't cough at all using this method, he just had a bit of a cold when I shot this vid.

Glad you posted this here Kate.. I saw this on your blog last year and have been using it since.. Joseph LOVES it.. he has always hated having fingers under his chin and used to gag like crazy. I also like to leave the ties off for a few mins and let his neck "air" out.. works great while he watches tv

Ok so he has to be the cutest little guy ever!!! I might have to try that technique... i think half of Hunter's problem with tie changes is he doesn't like us holding the trach and loves to turn his head...this might make it easier :) Thanks for posting it!

I was going to ask... "how did you tie the catheter?" because i couldnt see it lol but when you removed his tubing i finally got it lol:cool: That was a good idea, did you come up with it yourself or did you see someone else use this method? Very cute little guy if i may say so :D
