View Full Version : A Truly Naked Neck!!

Nathan was extubated successfully yesterday just before 4pm! He did great! We are still on the high flow nasal cannula, but from a respiratory standpoint he is doing better than anyone expected at this stage in the game. Withdrawals are something else. He is having a terrible time. Poor guy.

Cute story: He has been trached since birth and always had a mist collar for sleeping. Last night he was so restless and uncomfortable so my husband and I asked if we could have some blue tubing and a trach collar. We placed it under his naked neck and he immediately wrapped his little hands around it like he has done for 3 1/2 years and fell asleep. Sweet boy.

How exciting!!! I am sure he will get used to not have a blue tubing hanging off his neck soon as well - That was so cute.

YEAH, Nathan! We ended up having to put a trach collar around Donovan's neck at first so he would leave the bandages alone!! What our babies get used to!!:happytears:

I'm so glad to hear Nathan is doing so well! Keep that tubing and mask handy...he may need the "comfort" of it for a while...especially during the withdrawals.
