View Full Version : Anyone in Tucson? (And HI everyone!) Ideas for therapists?

The kids and I may be moving to Tucson. I haven't been on in a long time. I've been pretty busy and stressed.

Does anyone have any idea for therapists and specialists? Malcolm no longer has a trach, but can't talk. (we go to Cinci for check ups with Dr. Cotton), We need a pediatrician who is comfortable with special needs children, a speech pathologist, and an OT who is familiar with neural deficits. Also, Malcolm goes to a developmental psychologist where he has behavioral mod session in the ABA (applied behavioral analysis).

We lost Malcolm's Medicaid when we moved to Florida from Georgia and it has practically done us in because we have about $600/mo in copays for therapies. Sometimes $800. Medicaid used to pick up the copays as secondary insurance. What is Medicaid like in Arizona? Obviously it is different state to state.

We are in Phoenix, about an hour and a half from Tuscon. Right now, social services for children is horrible. We just had some pretty hefty budget cuts and the services for kids have been hit hard. Lucky for us, we have good insurance and they cover her speech and PT. Your best bet is to get involved with AZEIP (early intervention) and have them refer you. I am not to familiar with medicaid.
