had speaking valve on today for about 20 min he did great, dont know if its related
but had an episode of very flemy, bright red blood

anyone have this, waiting for call back from dr right now

You might want to do a search on blood and pmv. I think someone had this problem awhile back. I don't recall much about it, but I think no one thought the two were related? Don't quote me on that. If I can, I'll search later for you, but I figured you might want something to do while you wait for the doc to call.

The only time Dom has had blood in his trache is after a trache change and after a deep suction by an inexperienced nurse. Both times it was only a tinge of blood in what was otherwise normal secretions. Not sure if this will help. Good luck.

Addisyn will occasionally get blood in her trach if she has been coughing or if we needed to suction a lot. I wouldn't worry too much unless you continue to see it. I make sure I get the bloody secretions out and then I watch for more. Did you have to modify the PMV?
