by the way: we had an interesting experience with our recent trip to the hospital. They have the "new" Fisher Paykel humidifiers and they're supposedly "smart" humidifiers - you can't change relative humidity on them. Futher, the vent circuits to go with them are different because the sensorts are different.

In our case, that meant we spent 5 days with tubes full of water. The only way to fix it was to turn the humidifier off for several hours two or three times a day.

So....hang on to your current humidifiers if at all possible. :)

We've had that problem in the hospital with the older Fisher Paykel heaters. Thanks for sharing the info, though. I'll definitely try to hang on to the one we have.

This is the one I just got rid of - you need to have the dual heated circuits to use with them, but the peep tail is so short on them, the peep is up in the air and they are very hard to empty the water out of. I had it for 8mos but last week went back to the old humidifier, cause my prevent maint was due and they needed to order me a new one-- I told them it wasnt worth it, just get me an old fashioned one and let me turn on the temp I like.

You are preachin' to the choir!! We've had that heater for a year now, and it has been my arch nemesis!

Thank you for forewarning the others!

I figured it was worth mentioning, because recent weather shifts have been driving us batty at home with getting the humidity right, but the RTs at the hospital *hated* the new ones that couldn't be adjusted at all. :)
